Deepening EU-China cooperation on urbanisation

28 June 2016 – During a weeks visit to Beijing and Shanghai, a delegation of the Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe (JPI UE), led by Prof. Manfred Horvat from the Vienna University of Technology, meets with Chinese representatives from ministries, urbanisation departments and research entities such as the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), China Center for Urban Development (CCUD), Shanghai S&T Commission, Tongji University, China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), CAS Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (CAS RCEES) and the Development Research Center (DRC).
Laurent Bochereau, minister counsellor of the Delegation of the European Union to China and head of Science, Technology and Environment Section, warmly welcomed the experts of JPI UE in Beijing. A discussion was held on how to integrate Chinese partners into future JPI UE joint calls. The Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe was set up in 2010 to strengthen European research and innovation in the field of urban development.
