The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) 2020 will take place from August 23rd until September 3rd. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, most of the sessions will be conducted online. EFA connects since 1945 international decision-makers from all sectors of society with interested experts and committed young people. The EFA 2020, the 75th Edition of the Forum, is devoted to the social foundations of democracy, cohesion and diversity.
In cooperation with the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD) and annually nominated universities in China the EFA Foundation will invite 22 students from China to attend the EFA 2020. Having received more than 70 applications, forwarded by different top universities, Ms.Alexandra Wagner, Head of Office Austrian Center Shanghai and Mr. Philipp Agathonos, Minister Plenipotentiary and Director of the Science and Technology Section of the Austrian Embassy Beijing (OSTA) jointly conducted 65online selection interviews during the first part of June 2020 and forwarded the results to the EFA foundations, which makes the final selection of scholarship allocation. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the successful candidates will be attending EFA 2020 online and will take part in the Forum in Alpbach next year provide that EFA 2021 will be allowed to invite international students.
