Austrian and Chinese scientists share experience in nanotechnology cooperation

On the occasion of the visit of the Austrian delegation of nanotechnology experts, OSTA organized a workshop on the topic “results of the nano delegation visit to China 2015” at the Austrian embassy on the 14 September 2017.
In the framework of the joint call between Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), three joint research projects were selected in 2015 and financially supported. The Chinese project winners from Institute of Microelectronics CAS, Institute of Chemistry CAS und Institute of Physics CAS were invited to the workshop and introduced their research projects jointly with their Austrian partners.
Top researchers from the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems of the Chinese Academy of Sciences also attended the workshop and presented their research projects. Following the workshop, all the participants were invited to a welcome reception at the Austrian Embassy.

16 March 2017 – Representatives from renowned Austrian and Chinese research institutes as well as Austrian companies active in the field of Information and Communications Technology were cordially welcomed at the Austrian Embassy in Beijing by Philipp Agathonos, Minister Plenipotentiary for Science and Technology and director of OSTA. The Austrian delegation started its tour through China in Shenzhen. After stops in Guangzhou and Shanghai the Austrian experts spend two days in Beijing, where they visited the Institute of Computing Technology (ICT CAS) and the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IS CAS).
Talking about Internet of Things: chances and challenges

16 March 2017 – On the occasion of the visit of 25 Austrian ICT experts, a workshop on Internet of Things was held at the Austrian Embassy Beijing. Helmut Leopold, director of the digital safety and security department of the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), Prof. Xiong Gang, deputy director of the Beijing Engineering Research Centre of Intelligent Systems and Technology and Dominic Klein from the EU Delegation to China Held a lively discussions shedding light to various scientific, technical and security aspects of the issue. The event was opened and moderated by Philipp Agathonos, Minister Plenipotentiary for Science and Technology and director of OSTA.
Moving from Sunflower Tower to Jianguomen
16 January 2017 – The Office of Science and Technology Austria Beijing (OSTA) is moving from Sunflower Tower to the compound of the Austrian Embassy in Jianguomen after five successful years of operations. During the years at Sunflower OSTA received tremendous support from all Chinese, Austrian and EU stakeholders, that enabled as to perform our tasks as smooth as possible. The relocation marks a new beginning and allows OSTA to better use synergies with the core team of the Austrian Embassy, e.g. in hosting its own events such as workshops, seminars and other meetings in the premises of the Embassy.
