Understanding the software industry development in China

On the 29 of June 2018, the 22nd China International Software Expo was opened at Beijing Exhibition Center. Philipp Agathonos, Minister Plenipotentiary for Science and Technology attended the global summit forum of software industry development.
The Expo was hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government. Miao Wei, Minister of MIIT and Chen Jining, Mayor of Beijing delivered welcoming speeches. The forum gathered representatives from nearly 400 companies, officials from 18 Chinese local administrations and 11 foreign embassies, discussing software development, big data and information technology.
“Cyber Security” as a non-negligible keyword for technologic development

The second edition of Vienna Cyber Security Week was successfully held from 29 January to 02 February 2018 in Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. The conference was organized by the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (BMEIA), all other relevant ministries including the Federal Chancellery, in collaboration with Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), the Cybersecurity Platform and the Energypact Foundation.
National and international stakeholders attended the event aiming at further dialogue and cooperation in the field of cyber security for critical infrastructure with a focus on the energy sector. Ambassador Mikhail Konarovskiy, adviser to the Secretariat and Mr. Adilet Orozbekov, the Secretariat’s expert from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) were present. Representatives from BMEIA, Federal Ministry for Digital, Business and Enterprise (BMDW), Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), AIT, Energy Foundation, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) etc. (noch mehr ergänzen?) gave impressive keynote speeches on different sessions of the event. A Chinese delegation from China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) presented its achievements to the delegates on Day 3 (Technology exhibition with a booth provided by AIT) and took part in the Day 5 conference on Securing Smart Cities and Emerging Technologies.
The five-day event offered a unique forum for both governmental and non-governmental partners to delve into substantive debates over the protection of critical energy infrastructure, combating cybercrime, cyber diplomacy and the future of technologic development in the energy sector.
Cyber security meets critical energy infrastructure

On the 1st of December 2017, the 10th China Energy & Environment Summit (CEES) opened at the Lecture Hall of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). Following the invitation of CEES, Minister Plenipotentiary Philipp Agathonos attended the Summit and held a presentation on “Cyber Security and Critical Energy Infrastructure”.
As one of the five keynote speakers on the opening, Mr Agathonos emphasized the necessity and requirement of cyber security and introduced capacity building and successful established R&D competences in the field of digital safety and security in Austria, and in particular of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology. He underlined the linkages between cyber security, energy and infrastructure. Mr Agathonos also mentioned the National Cyber-Exercise for critical infrastructure operators in Austria, which took place on 6-7th of November 2017 and the Vienna Cyber Security Week, which will take place from 29th of January to 2nd February 2018 and will focus on the Protection of Critical Energy Infrastructure and the Security of Smart Cities and Energing Technologies.
CEES is organized by the China Energy and Environment Research Center and China’s Economic Trends Research Institute of Economic Daily News. Supporting Organizations include the NDRC, the National Energy Administration (NEA), the Institute of International Economy of UIBE and CCUD. Mr. Shifang SUN, president of China’s Economic Trends Research Institute of Economic Daily; Mr. Zhiqin LIN, deputy chairman of CEES, Director of China Energy and Environment Research Center, Prof. of UIBE etc. participated in the summit.
