11 June 2016 – On the occasion of the “Austrian Week” in Ulaanbaatar, Peter Schintlmeister, director of OSTA, visited Mongolia from 8-11 June. He had fruitful talks with high-ranking representatives of the National University of Mongolia (NUM), the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) and the University of Humanities. Prof. Wolf-Dieter Rausch, president of the Eurasia Pacific Uninet (EPU), together with Prof. Sarantuya Tsedendamba from MUST, organized an EPU Alumni meeting on 9 June. Amongst scientists from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS), MUST, NUM and the Mongolian University of Life Sciences (MULS), who gave an overview of their projects, Peter Schintlmeister held a keynote on science communication in Austria and Dr. Katharina Lang from the Austrian Academy of Sciences presented her research in Mongolia. All sides agreed to strengthen the partnership between Austrian and Mongolian universities, work together on science communication and build on existing ties to promote researchers mobility, especially for young scientists.
